Event Description:

On November 30th, 2022, The CECN hosted an all-inclusive forum in Montréal, QC to discuss energy pathways and climate initiatives in Québec and Canada. 

Event Highlights:

  • Project Presentation: “Canada in Transition: An Evaluation of the Business Case for the Energy Re-Mix” with Kirk Morrison (CECN Contributor) 
  • Keynote Presentation: “Québec’s Electricity Transition: Balancing Internal Needs with its Neighbors’ Intermittent Generation” with Pierre-Olivier Pineau (HEC Montréal)
  • Panel Discussion One: Topics included – Investment and enabling of variable generation resources, renewable potential in Ontario and links with Manitoba, Québec + the U.S. and storage opportunities in Québec/Labrador 
  • Panel Discussion Two: Topics included – Renewable energy research and innovation in Québec, northern renewable projects (collaboration in Nunavik), and responses to Bill 21 and its impact on various sectors
